Family photos in Home hill – Brotto family

Lara and Jeff’s 2nd son Ben was a partner for the Home Hill Debutante Ball, so with all her boys looking very smart Lara thought she would take the opportunity to update her family photos. The tricky part was Ben needed to be at ball rehearsal at 4.30pm… this meant we couldn’t use the afternoons beautiful golden light. I traveled down to Home Hill the week before the shoot and scouted for locations. I grew up there and with my Mum and sister also on the case we had a few ideas. We needed shade, which is hard at 2pm but after driving around for an hour or so, travelling down roads that hold many childhood memories, we were sorted. On the day of the shoot we were incredibly lucky when the sun ducked behind a cloud, just for a few minutes, which allowed us to venture out of the shade and shoot on the epic Burdekin Bridge.
Lara was concerned about how the boys would feel at the shoot… teenage boys are not renowned for loving to have their photos taken but they were fantastic. I’m pretty sure they know how important photos are to their Mum so they did it for her. How lovely!

  • An unforgettable moment at Teegan and Sean’s wedding last year. Little Marley was getting amongst it. 😆 I love how kids are so unpredictable.
  • The excited expression on her face says it all.
  • Even the Great Danes were included in this pregnancy/newborn shoot. I've popped my favorites on the blog. Check them out using the link in bio.

  • Here he is... Logan. This is the little guy who just couldn't wait to make his entrance into the world. He was in such a hurry Jemmah's pregnancy shoot almost didn't happen. (read the previous post) I'm grateful he gave us a few hours grace to allow us to capture the pregnancy stage. Isn't he the sweetest!

  • THE PREGNANCY SHOOT THAT ALMOST DIDN'T HAPPEN - Scheduled for the first time during 'the big wet', this shoot had to be rescheduled 3 times before we finally had a day with enough light to shoot. We were ready to shoot at 8.30am.... that was until Jemmah's water broke at 6.30am. Amazingly she still wanted to go ahead. "Don't worry, we've got this" her message to me read. I shuffled a few of my other bookings around, pushing her shoot time back and after she was checked over at the birth center she was given the all clear to go home and do the shoot. I am so pleased I got to document this special time. As the day went on I couldn't help but wonder how everything was going. I got a text message the following day... a boy! Stay tuned for the newborn photos, he is a cutie!!
