Dads Reading Program

We were the asked to photograph Cowboys player Matt Bowen and his gorgeous daughter Diaz by the State Library of Queensland for the ‘Dad’s Reading’ program. It is great initiative that encourages kids to read more with the help of family.
We photographed this arrangement in the studio using two lights and a reflector. One large light (Octagon) from the front left and then one smaller light from behind. The idea was to make the scene feel like a bedroom with natural light. We are always happy to use natural light when we can, but because it was overcast on the day of the shoot, we did our best to emulate it instead.
There is something special about seeing dads doing quite activities like reading… The stereotype dads seem to play, is the more phyiscial/sporty role in children’s lives. It is cool to see another ‘image’.
