Wedding Photos Townsville – Belinda and Dwayne

Belinda and her family got ready at her Mum and Dad’s beautiful apartment on the water. The apartment had huge windows (photographers dream) overlooking the strand and the marina. Belinda was so calm and easy going! The lovely Troy from Reds Hair salon created Belinda’s soft half up, half down hair style and the sweet Margot from Balance Beauty added a flawless finish to Belinda’s doll like face. I love working with wedding suppliers I already have a relationship with because I know the end product will be great! The soft cream colour flowers mixed with hints of purple were created by Malpara Florist.
Once all the hair and makeup was done Belinda and her daughter  just sat quietly on the couch watching cartoons. Belinda’s mum said that nothing had changed since she was a little girl – that her favourite thing has always been zoning out watching TV. Belinda was so relaxed we had to prompt her to start getting dressed. Her amazing floor length, strapless dress came from The Fashion Gallery. I just love the soft ruffles around the bottom of the dress – stunning!
Dwayne and the boys got dressed at Jupiters while watching the AFL on TV – such a boy thing to do. Dwayne was sweet enough to prepare the ‘wedding suite’ with rose petals and gifts as a surprise for Belinda.
The ceremony was held on the grassy area at Jupiters overlooking the water. There was a lovely four piece playing music through the ceremony, accompanied by one of the couple’s friends singing. I love when couples include people they know as part of the day, it adds such a personal touch.
The first bridal shoot location was a rustic wall softened by a huge Bougainvillea tree. I love the way Belinda and Dwayne’s eyes stand out against the bright blue door. The second location is one we visit often with portrait shoots – Pallarenda. Pallarenda works so well because of the variety it offers with the trees, long grass and beach. We tried a combination of front lit (subjects facing the sun) and backlit (subjects back to the sun) to offer lots of variety. The front lit shots offer a more vivid, saturated image, whilst the backlit offer a softer, muted more romantic look.
Belinda opted for extended wedding coverage so Liz and I stayed and photographed the night unfolding. We were able to hear the story of how the couple met, the good times and the crazy times and we got to capture the guests partying it up on the dance floor. Lots of ‘golden’ moments, with Dwayne even pulling some moves on the floor… literally!
Thanks to Belinda, Dwayne and their family and friends for making us feel so welcome… and a special thanks to Belinda’s friend Leah Crawley who recommended Insight Creative 🙂
